HANDLING CONTAINERS ON BARGES? WATCH THIS!

30th November 2021

Unloading containers from a barge below the level of the quayside can be challenging for inland terminal operations. Watch this video to see how a Hyster® RS46 ReachStacker was specially configured for a customer to overcome this exact issue.

The right solution will always depend on the needs of the specific application. That’s why the Hyster team worked closely with the customer to develop an economic solution for optimal barge container handling at this particular inland terminal.

Reaching beneath the surface

Negative lift achieved by extended rotator head on the boom and lowered end beams so that the spreader can reach the low level required for picking containers from the barge

Careful and controlled handling

Container control was optimised with powered dampening and powered pile slope for accurate and smooth positioning of containers with reduced vibration, and noise

Tailored to the application

The Hyster RS46-33 CH was further customised with full stroke sliding cabin, rear view camera, auto-greasing system on base truck, auto-greasing system on spreader and Empty Seat Engine Shutdown to meet application requirements.
