First Hyster ReachStacker for the Port of Duisburg

5th August 2016

Logistics company Büteführ, the first company in the Port of Duisburg, Germany, has taken delivery of the latest generation Hyster® ReachStacker. The Hyster® RS45-31CH container handling truck, which has a lift capacity of 45 tonnes, was officially handed over during a ceremony on 1st August 2016 and will be used by Büteführ mainly for handling tank containers.

“We visited the Hyster test site in Weeze to get an overall impression of the Hyster® ReachStackers,” says CEO Ulrich Büteführ. ” We were convinced by the robust construction, reliable technology and the good rear visibility from the truck.” The new ReachStacker is used by the logistics company for the transport, maintenance and storage of tank containers across a vast 28,000 m2 site with the ability to lift containers up to 31 tonnes in the second row.In addition to using the Hyster® RS45-31CH at the Port of Duisburg, Büteführ also uses a new Hyster® empty container handler for the transportation of hazardous materials at its site in Bitterfeld.

Robust ReachStacker for Inland Ports

“For us, the handover of the first ReachStacker at Duisburg, the largest inland port in Europe, is symbolic,” says Michael Langguth, Head of Sales of Hyster® dealer AGRAVIS Technik Ahaus – Borken. “The ReachStacker requires about 20 per cent less fuel than its predecessors, and as a result, the overall operating costs are significantly reduced.  The ReachStacker also meets the current Tier 4 Final / Stage IV emissions regulations.“

Reduced fuel consumption

The Hyster® ReachStackers feature a Cummins QSL9 engine which provides up to 380 hp/283 kW of power for the performance required.  As well as the Cummins engines, Hyster has incorporated additional functions to further reduce fuel consumption. These include on-demand cooling, load-sensing hydraulics, speed control and a sleep mode when the truck is idle. Furthermore, the truck offers an ECO eLo fuel efficiency mode which reduces the maximum engine speed and in turn reduces fuel consumption. Thanks to the engine, transmission and hydraulic protection systems, Hyster® trucks are extremely reliable in demanding port operations.
